• Crystal Lake eyes library-community center combo at former fitness center; plan would come with tax hike (shawlocal.com) — Crystal Lake officials are weighing whether to buy the former Northwestern Medicine Health and Fitness Center and turn it into a combined library and community center, a move that would raise property taxes for homeowners. Three design options range from $44 million to $52 million, with possible future pool construction and bond funding still under discussion. Residents can still share feedback through a city survey, email, or City Hall drop-off.
   

• Huntley, Richmond-Burton volleyball teams remain undefeated with wins: Wednesday's Northwest Herald roundup (shawlocal.com) — Crystal Lake athletes were busy Wednesday, with Crystal Lake South boys golf taking third in a triangular and the Crystal Lake Central girls golf co-op cruising past Prairie Ridge at Turnberry. The roundup also highlights strong performances from nearby Huntley, Richmond-Burton, Woodstock and other area schools in volleyball, golf and soccer, offering a quick snapshot of how local teams are stacking up early in the season.
