Vehicle Crashes Into Cary-Area Home, Displaces 4 Residents

Firefighters were called to the 2500 block of Oakdale Terrace Monday evening, fire officials said.

CARY, IL — A vehicle crashed into an occupied home in unincorporated Cary on Monday evening, causing structural damage and temporarily displacing four residents, according to the Cary Fire Protection District.

Firefighters were called to the 2500 block of Oakdale Terrace at about 5:45 p.m. on Monday for reports of a car that had struck a residence, according to a news release. When crews arrived, they found a passenger vehicle that had into the front of the home, resulting in minor structural intrusion.

Firefighter and paramedics confirmed all three occupants inside the home had safely exited and were not injured, fire officials said.

Two occupants of the vehicle were evaluated at the scene for minor injuries, and both declined medical transport or further treatment, according to a news release.

Additional crews assessed structural damage and stabilized the area.

Due to concerns about the integrity of the home, the McHenry County Department of Planning and Development was requested to inspect the property, and a private board-up company was called to secure the damaged structure.

Following the inspection, officials determined the residence was unsafe for occupancy pending repairs, according to the news release. The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the four displaced residents with temporary lodging and other immediate needs.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation with the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
