Armed Man In Darien Faces Domestic Battery Charges: Police

Police said they de-escalated the situation. The man was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

DARIEN, IL – A man in his 60s was arrested earlier this week in a Darien neighborhood after a domestic violence incident involving a weapon, police said.

The incident took place Tuesday near Linden Avenue and 79th Street.

"Officers successfully de-escalated the situation and the subject was taken into custody without incident, and there was no ongoing threat to the public," Deputy Police Chief Austin Jump told Patch in an email.

The man was charged with two counts of domestic battery and one count of aggravated assault involving a deadly weapon, police said.

He was taken to the DuPage County Jail, where he remained Thursday afternoon.
