Despite a late push from a former member and disappointment from Alderman Eric Gustafson, officials say the panel struggled with quorums, timeliness, and progress, while other local groups now handle some environmental efforts.
   

• Darien Getting Chicago Restaurant Favorite, Replacing Cheesesteak Spot (patch.com) — A longtime Chicago favorite, Mini Hut Chicken, is opening a new location in Darien at 7517 S. Cass Ave., replacing the recently closed Charleys Cheesesteaks in the strip mall with Starbucks and Nothing Bundt Cakes. The revived restaurant, known for its "butter crust chicken," will also offer hot dogs and beef, giving Darien residents another nearby option for casual comfort food.
