Decatur Police arrest man for unlawful use of a weapon, shots fired investigation ongoing (wcia.com) — Decatur Police arrested a man on weapon-related charges after a foot chase near Jasper and Cantrell, recovering a gun along his path. Officers are also investigating an earlier shots-fired report near Oakwood and King, where they found shell casings but no injuries or damage, and are asking residents to share any information.

Wandering 73-year-old woman is found safe and well by police (herald-review.com) — A 73-year-old Decatur woman who wandered from her home during stormy weather was found safe after an intensive three-hour police search. Heritage Behavioral Health expanding to 24/7 crisis care (wandtv.com) — Decatur residents will soon have 24/7 walk-in behavioral health urgent care, as Heritage Behavioral Health Center expands its crisis response hub to round-the-clock service starting August 31. The center will offer triage, counseling, assessments, and new adult Crisis Observation Services. Heritage has closed its "Living Room" program but reassigned all staff and folded those supports into the expanded hub.
4. Decatur to consider establishing procedure for filling city council, mayor vacancies (wcia.com) — Decatur's City Council is weighing a new procedure for filling vacancies in the mayor's office or council seats when members can't agree on a replacement. The proposal would allow temporary appointments to keep city business moving and avoid legal or financial gridlock if key positions suddenly open up.
