• Prosecutors say alleged drugged driver never braked before slamming into broken down car, killing elderly man in Deer Park (lakemchenryscanner.com) — A 95-year-old Palatine man was killed in January when his broken-down car was rear-ended at Lake Cook and Quentin roads in Deer Park, and prosecutors now say the other driver never braked and had cocaine in his system. The 30-year-old Cary man faces multiple aggravated DUI and reckless homicide charges and is being held without pretrial release, with a preliminary hearing set for June 25.
