2 Injured After Car Goes Airborne On I-294 Near Deerfield: IL State Police

Police said the speeding car left the roadway Friday morning before striking a guardrail.

DEERFIELD, IL — Two people were injured early Friday in a single-car crash on Interstate 294 in Deerfield.

According to the Illinois State Police, the driver and passenger were trapped inside the vehicle when officers arrived at around 3:09 a.m. Police were able to get the pair out of the car and they were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

A preliminary police report has revealed the car had attempted to enter the ramp from Lake Cook Road to southbound I-294 at a high speed. The driver was unable to safely negotiate the ramp, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway, strike and breach a guardrail, and become airborne. The vehicle then came to rest on its passenger side on southbound I-294 near milepost 52.75.

Several lanes were closed for the subsequent investigation and reopened at around 5:14 a.m.
