Couple, Pet Dog Rescued After Truck Plunges Into Deerfield Pond

DEERFIELD, IL — A man, woman and dog were rescued Wednesday morning after a truck went off northbound Interstate 294 near Lake Cook Road and came to rest in a pond, according to Illinois State Police.

ISP Troop 3 tells Patch it responded at around 6:41 a.m. Sept. 2, to a report of a one-vehicle crash involving a red truck.

Preliminary information indicates the truck left the roadway and entered the pond, with a man, woman and dog reported still inside the vehicle as it filled with water, police said.

Local fire and rescue crews arrived and rescued both people and the dog from the truck.

One occupant was taken to a local hospital with injuries. Police did not immediately release additional information about the extent of the injuries.

The crash happened on northbound I-294 at Lake Cook Road in Deerfield, in Lake County.

The incident remains under investigation, according to ISP. No additional information was available Wednesday morning.
