DeKalb Council Reviews Changes To City Boards And Commissions (1023thecoyote.net) — DeKalb’s City Council has advanced an ordinance that would overhaul several volunteer boards, reactivating the Human Relations Commission with local social-service leaders and eliminating the long-inactive Landmark Commission. The measure also lets key citizen boards meet only as needed instead of monthly. It passed 5–3 on first reading and returns for a final vote in two weeks.

2. Is DeKalb ready for commuter rail service? New study to look at planning, environment (shawlocal.com) — DeKalb is taking a major step toward potential commuter rail service by hiring TY Lin International to study safety, environmental impacts, and feasibility for a line between Elburn and DeKalb.
