• Officer Battered, Driver Resists Arrest: Des Plaines Police Blotter (patch.com) — Des Plaines residents can see how local police handled several recent incidents, including damage to a vehicle on Sanborn Street and an arrest on East Oakton where a driver allegedly resisted officers and had drug paraphernalia. Another Des Plaines resident faces felony aggravated battery and aggravated domestic battery charges after an officer was reportedly injured during transport, while a Mount Prospect man was arrested on Holiday Lane on multiple battery offenses and a warrant.

• Motorcyclist From Des Plaines Dies In Crash On Oakton Street (journal-topics.com) — A 31-year-old Des Plaines resident, Daniel Nikov, died after his motorcycle was struck by a Jeep SUV at Oakton Street and First Avenue on Mount Prospect's south side Saturday night. Police say the crash, near the Willoway Terrace mobile home park, closed Oakton for nearly six hours while investigators worked the scene and are now asking any witnesses to contact Mount Prospect police.

• From 'fortress of solitude' to campus hub (ccdaily.com) — Oakton College has turned its Des Plaines campus library into a $5.9 million learning commons that now combines tutoring, tech support, student services and archives in one welcoming hub. The redesigned space offers group rooms, dedicated study areas and easier access to help, aiming to better serve both Oakton students and residents from surrounding communities like Des Plaines.
