DOWNERS GROVE, IL — On Thursday, village commissioner Chris Gilmartin took to social media to announce his bid for mayor of Downers Grove.
Gilmartin, who was elected to the Downers Grove Village Council in 2021, shared the news of his run for mayor in a video accompanied by a text statement.
He wrote, in part, "For the past five years I’ve served on the Village Council, where I’ve learned that good local government is mostly careful, steady work. It's digging into what is before us, challenging the status quo, listening before I vote, and following through."
