Videos show confirmed tornados, funnel clouds spinning through Illinois (nbcchicago.com) — Large tornadoes were confirmed Thursday evening in both Streator and Dwight prompting warnings across LaSalle, Grundy, and Kankakee counties. Multiple videos shared with NBC Chicago show the Streator twister and other funnel clouds, while the National Weather Service confirms a separate tornado also touched down near Dwight. 
2. Tornado Outbreak Far South of Northwest Suburbs Near Streator, Dwight, Reddick; Lesser Storm Line Due Through Arlington Heights About 7:34 PM to 8:16 PM (arlingtoncardinal.com) — Tornadoes struck Central Illinois Thursday evening, with confirmed damage reported in both Dwight and nearby Reddick and Streator. Spotters and the National Weather Service documented tornadoes touching down southwest and east of Dwight, prompting major emergency responses and box alarms as firefighters and paramedics worked multiple damage scenes.
3. Girls basketball teams get summer tuneup at Braidwood Shootout (shawlocal.com) — Dwight’s girls basketball team dropped a close 45-41 game to Peotone in the consolation bracket of the Braidwood Shootout, a summer tune-up featuring 16 area squads. The event highlighted returning standouts and new coaches as regional programs, including Dwight’s opponents, tested lineups and built chemistry ahead of the coming season.
4. VIDEO: Man rescued from rubble of home in Streator, Illinois, destroyed by tornado (nbcchicago.com) — A powerful tornado destroyed a home in Streator on Thursday, where police and a bystander helped rescue a man trapped under debris. The same storm system also produced a confirmed tornado on the ground near Dwight as well as additional severe weather in northwest Indiana and Wisconsin.
