The program helps departments like East Alton’s afford tools that improve emergency response and public safety. 
• Robert Ruyle (–2026) of East Alton, IL (riverbender.com) — East Alton readers are mourning the passing of longtime Olin Corporation employee Robert “Bob” Ruyle, whose family includes a daughter living in East Alton. The 82-year-old animal lover chose cremation, with no services scheduled yet, and his family suggests memorials to Alton’s 5 A’s Animal Shelter in his honor.
