Body Found In Fox River In Elgin, Cause Of Death Pending (patch.com) — Residents in Elgin are being alerted after an unidentified man's body was discovered partially submerged in the Fox River near the 200 block of North Grove Avenue early Friday morning. The Kane County Coroner's Office has completed an autopsy but is awaiting toxicology results to determine cause of death, while working with Elgin police to identify the man and notify his family.
   

2. Large police presence reported in Elgin (fox32chicago.com) — Elgin police reported a heavy police presence Friday morning in the 200 block of North Grove Avenue and are asking drivers and pedestrians to avoid the area and use alternate routes. Officials haven't yet said what prompted the response or whether anyone was injured, but promise more details as they become available, so residents should steer clear and watch for updates.
   

3. PADS of Elgin sets new course after federal funding loss (chicagotribune.com) — PADS of Elgin, the city's year-round homeless shelter, is stabilizing after losing federal funding but still urgently needs local donations to sustain services. The nonprofit has cut its budget, laid off staff, and is leaning on community support, including a Sept. 10 Hops for Homes fundraiser in Elgin, to keep providing 24/7 shelter, meals, and case management for struggling families.
