📰 News we're reading

• These residential properties were the best deals for Kane County's in the week of Aug. 10 (shawlocal.com) — If you're watching the local housing market, recent Kane County sales include a South Elgin home on Kane Street that closed at $375,000 and an Elgin home on White Oak Lane that sold for $385,000. The roundup compares these deals with other moderately priced sales in Huntley, Batavia, Geneva, Hampshire, and Aurora, giving a snapshot of current prices and home sizes.

• Lack of flood insurance in Aurora area leaves widespread storm costs for residents (chicagotribune.com) — Recent July storms left many Aurora and Elgin residents with costly, uninsured basement and vehicle damage because standard homeowners policies don't cover flooding. Kane County has since qualified for federal low-interest disaster loans, and Aurora officials are exploring local grant help, while insurance experts urge residents to review coverage, improve sump pump setups, and take small steps to reduce future flood losses.
