Man Assaults Worker At Elmhurst Entertainment Venue: Cops
The employee believed the suspect was about to strike him, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving assault, domestic battery, a scam featuring a fake boss, an argument, drug possession, retail theft, DUI, theft and harassment. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Assault
- A 59-year-old Melrose Park man was arrested about 9:30 p.m. Saturday on an assault charge. Police said an employee of Stage 119, 119 Commerce Ave., believed the man was about to strike him for denying entry. The suspect was released. Stage 119 is an entertainment venue in downtown Elmhurst.
Domestic battery

- A 44-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 700 block of North Emroy Avenue was arrested about 8 a.m. Friday at his home on two counts of domestic battery. Police said the man grabbed another person and scratched the person's chest. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Fake boss
- A resident in the 500 block of South Hawthorne Avenue told police Friday that someone posing as her boss persuaded her to send an Xbox gift card, via a text message, to the suspect. An investigation is pending.
Argument

- Police responded to an argument about 1 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of Fellows Court. A person was found to have a DuPage County Sheriff's Office warrant. The person was given a court date and then released.
Suspicious
- A witness told police about seeing a person enter an unoccupied house about 1 a.m. Sunday in the 600 block of West Fay Avenue. An investigation is pending.
Drug possession
- A 33-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man, both from Round Lake, were arrested about 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of Butterfield Road on charges of possession of a controlled substance. Police said they were called to a disturbance. The pair were taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Retail theft
- Joseph Hernandez, 39, of Westchester, was arrested about 4 p.m. Friday on charges of retail theft and obstructing identification. Police said the incident occurred at Jewel, 944 S. York St. The man was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
- A 27-year-old Chicago woman was arrested about noon Saturday on a retail theft charge. Police said the incident occurred at Thorntons convenience store, 476 N. York St. The man was released.
DUI
- A 24-year-old Melrose Park man was arrested about 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Route 83 and North Avenue on charges of DUI and improper stopping on the roadway. Police said the man was asleep behind the wheel. The man was taken to the police station and then released.
Theft
- Fireplace & Chimney Authority, 120 E. Lake St., told police Thursday that it never received proper payment for a fireplace that was purchased in March.
Harassment
- A resident in the 100 block of Eldridge Lane told police Friday about receiving harassing messages from a stranger. An investigation is pending.
