Woman's Jewelry Stolen In Elmhurst Doctor's Office During Procedure: Police
In another case, marijuana smokers fled from officers in a city parking deck.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving theft, fleeing marijuana smokers, domestic battery, fraud, car burglaries, stolen equipment, yelling and DUI. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Theft
- A woman told police she removed a piece of jewelry and placed it on a counter during a procedure at Endeavor Health, 1200 S. York St. She left the appointment and later realized she forgot to put it back on. She contacted the doctor's office. The jewelry was not found.
- A man told police Tuesday that he left a watch in a woman's apartment but that she refused to return it. The incident occurred at the Vyne on Haven apartment complex, 100 Haven Road.
- A suspect stole several packages Wednesday from the mailroom at Butterfield Towers, 260 E. Butterfield Road.

- About 8 p.m. Monday, police were called about marijuana smokers in the city's parking deck at 145 N. Addison Ave. Offices saw four people running down the stairs. They got away.
Domestic battery
- Police responded about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday to Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road, for a domestic battery in which a suspect struck another person. The suspect fled before police arrived.

- A resident in the 100 block of South Kenilworth Avenue told police Monday about sending a wire transfer to a fraudulent email, resulting in a loss. A further investigation is pending.
Suspicious activity
- Early Monday evening, a woman checking on a vacant rental property in the 600 block of South Spring Road noticed an unlocked door and a marijuana smell in the house.
Vehicle burglaries
- Someone burglarized cars between 10:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Wednesday at Amigas Restaurant, 671 W. North Ave. Items were stolen. An investigation is pending.
- Two company trucks were burglarized between 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of Aberdeen Court. A tool was stolen. The suspect fled in a vehicle. Officers could not find the person.
Stolen equipment
- Equipment was stolen from a Mr. Rooter Plumbing truck about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of Prospect Avenue.
Yelling
- Someone reported hearing yelling about 9 p.m. Tuesday from a home in the 600 block of South York Street. Both people involved said nothing happened and that they were there for a barbecue.
DUI
- A 54-year-old West Chicago man was arrested about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at North and Elm avenues on charges of DUI, unlawful marijuana possession by a driver, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and possession of open alcohol by a driver. Police took him to the station and then released him.
