Highland Park Schools Closed Friday, Moving To E-Learning Due To Extreme Cold
Schools in districts 113 and 112 will be closed on Friday due to the anticipated extreme cold, officials announced.
HIGHLAND PARK, IL — Highland Park students will stay home, with some attending school online on Friday due to anticipated extreme cold, school officials confirmed.
In District 113, both Highland Park and Deerfield High School students will attend school digitally on Friday. The district will follow its e-Learning plan, meaning that courses will be asynchronous, and students should check Schoology at 8 a.m. for their assignments.
All after-school activities and athletics will be canceled as well. Coaches and sponsors will inform students of any rescheduled activities and schedules for Saturday.

"We recognize that weather-related changes to the school day and after-school events can be disruptive, and we are grateful for your understanding and adaptability during these challenging conditions," Holland said in a statement. "Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to keep our community safe."
In District 112, there will be no school and all buildings will be closed on Friday. All after-school activities and evening events are canceled as well, officials confirmed.

There will be no remote or e-learning for students in District 112.
The National Weather Service issued an extreme cold warning for the area on Friday, with windchills expected to be dangerous and as low as 35 below zero. Though outside activity is discouraged, officials recommend layering up and putting on a hat, face mask and gloves if you must go outside.
The high in the Highland Park area tomorrow is expected to be -1 degree with a low around -6 degrees. Windchill values could be as low as -33 with speeds between 15 and 20 mph.
