Evanston Announces Sept. 11 Memorial Ceremony at Firefighters Park (patch.com) — Evanston residents are invited to a Sept. 11 memorial ceremony at Firefighters Park, where local fire and police departments will honor lives lost in the 2001 attacks. The one-hour event will feature remarks from community leaders, including State Rep. Robyn Gabel, former Mayor Steve Hagerty, and a 9/11 survivor, offering a local space for remembrance on the 25th anniversary. National observances in New York, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania will also be held and livestreamed.
   

2. 63-Year-Old Man Accused Of Selling Crack Cocaine In Evanston (patch.com) — Evanston police say a 63-year-old local man has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies for allegedly selling crack cocaine near the 900 block of Maple Avenue. Officers report seizing guns, ammunition, drugs, cash and a vehicle after executing search warrants, and note the suspect is a convicted felon barred from possessing firearms.
   

3. Harley Clarke plans get preservation panel approval (evanstonnow.com) — Evanston's Preservation Commission has approved renovation plans to transform the historic Harley Clarke mansion into a lakefront event venue with dining and entertainment spaces, while requiring tweaks to elevator and window designs. The $30 million project includes extensive restoration and accessibility upgrades, but still needs zoning approvals and City Council action before work can begin.
   

4. Folk Fest 101: Your guide to a weekend of music on the lakefront (evanstonroundtable.com) — Evanston's lakefront turns into a two-day Folk Festival at Dawes Park this Saturday and Sunday, with 35 musical acts, panel talks, and family activities. Residents can still snag single-day tickets, enjoy local food vendors, join the Evanston Folk Choir sing-along, and easily walk, bike, or take transit from downtown Evanston garages and nearby CTA and Metra stops.
   

5. Evanston native falls short in congressional primary (evanstonnow.com) — An Evanston-born Marine veteran and ETHS and Northwestern graduate, Maura Sullivan, narrowly lost a Democratic congressional primary in New Hampshire's 1st District. The story highlights her roots in Evanston, her high school sports achievements, and her path from local schools to military service and federal government roles before entering politics.
