Police are coordinating with neighboring departments and urging parents to closely monitor teens’ plans, stressing the difference between lawful parties that grow too large and orchestrated public takeovers that can lead to property damage, traffic issues and safety risks.

• D161 teachers developed long friendship teaching 5th grade (hfchronicle.com) — Two longtime fifth grade teachers at Flossmoor Hills School, Joelle Mulhearn and Denise Roberts-Smith, are retiring together after more than 20 years as neighboring “buddy” classrooms. They reflect on making learning fun, teaching real-life skills, and seeing former Flossmoor-area students grow into successful adults, while planning to keep their close friendship going beyond the school year.
