State St. in Geneva has pushed city fines against owner Shodeen Development above $500,000. After the structure was fully shrink‑wrapped in plastic, a hearing officer delayed ruling on whether the cover violates prior orders, rescheduling the compliance hearing for October.

Geneva urges support for East State Street businesses during construction with Carl the Cone (shawlocal.com) — East State Street in Geneva is undergoing a multi‑year, $22 million rebuild that's hurting access to about 65 local businesses, so the city has launched a "Carl the Cone" campaign urging residents to keep shopping there. Owners along the corridor say sales are down but customers can still reach them via Route 25 and back entrances while roadwork continues.

These residential properties were the best deals for Kane County's in the week of Aug. 10 (shawlocal.com) — Two Geneva homes made Kane County's list of best recent residential deals, including a four‑bedroom house on School Street that sold for $382,500 and a Heritage Court home that went for $390,000.
