Glenview's Blocktoberfest Needs a Name for Its Official Brew — And You Could Win VIP Passes

GLENVIEW, IL — What's in a name? For one specially brewed hazy IPA, hopefully a little local flavor — and the folks at Friends of Downtown Glenview are asking residents to help come up with it.

The friends organization, which puts on the annual Blocktoberfest, is brewing a signature 6.5% hazy IPA for this year's festival on Saturday, September 26. A group of members traveled to St. Errant Brewing in Evanston to personally pour in the ingredients — and now they need a name worthy of the pour.

According to a call on the Friends of Downtown Glenview Instagram account, the group is asking residents to submit their best name ideas. You can post suggestions directly on their Instagram or on the Glenview Daily Facebook and Instagram accounts, and editors will forward them along.

The prize? Two Supporter Passes to the festival. While Blocktoberfest itself is free to attend, the VIP-style passes include prime close-up tables, access to a private air-conditioned restroom, and complimentary food and drinks.

The 2026 Blocktoberfest runs from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. along Glenview Road between Church and Pine streets.

The headliner is four-time Grammy winners Los Lobos, with two music stages featuring bands rotating back and forth all day. An entire block is dedicated to children's activities, games and a special stage.

New this year, the vendor lineup includes The Clove Indian and Nepali Cuisine, joining several other Glenview restaurants. For the full musician schedule, visit glenviewblocktoberfest.com.

So, what should Glenview call its beer? Maybe Jackman's Guardian after the village's beloved 108-year-old bear, The Grove Keeper honoring the historic National Landmark, or Kennicott's Reserve for the area's pioneering family.
