• Lake County Approves 8-Month Data Center Moratorium (patch.com) — Lake County has enacted an eight-month moratorium on new data centers in unincorporated areas while it studies environmental, infrastructure and community impacts, but the huge T5 data center campus in Grayslake is moving ahead as planned. Grayslake recently issued the first building permit for the $18 billion, 11-building project along Peterson Road, even as county officials craft regulations that could guide future developments across the region.
   

• 3 extricated by firefighters, 2 transported to hospital after multiple-vehicle crash causes heavy damage near Gurnee (lakemchenryscanner.com) — Emergency crews from Gurnee and Grayslake responded to two serious crashes along Route 45 and Rollins Road near unincorporated Lake Villa, sending multiple people to the hospital. Grayslake firefighters handled a high-speed single-car wreck just west of the intersection, where a vehicle hit a utility pole in a curve that has seen numerous crashes, prompting renewed warnings for drivers to slow down.
   

• Giuliana Dickson, CL Central co-op win McHenry County girls golf titles: Thursday's Northwest Herald roundup (shawlocal.com) — Grayslake Central's boys soccer team dropped a tight 2-1 nonconference match at Crystal Lake Central, part of a busy night of McHenry County prep action. Local fans can also track strong showings from area golfers and volleyball teams, with Crystal Lake Central's co-op girls golf squad and standout Giuliana Dickson capturing McHenry County titles.
