Greenville Police K-9 Program Golf Tournament Fundraiser (wgel.com) — Greenville residents are invited to support the local police K-9 program at the “Swing for the Paws” golf tournament on Saturday, July 11, at Indian Springs Golf Course near Fillmore. Proceeds from the four-person scramble will help fund K-9 Merlin’s training and operations, and teams can register by contacting Officer Jake McClintock for details.

2. Library Announces 1,000 Books Program (wgel.com) — Families in Greenville can enroll little ones in the Greenville Public Library’s year-round “1,000 Books Before Kindergarten” program, aimed at children who haven’t started school yet. Caregivers read aloud, track books, and kids earn small prizes every 100 books plus a hardcover book at 1,000, with details available by calling the library.

3. Semi Carrying Candles, Perfume Destroyed In I-70 Fire (wgel.com) — Greenville Fire Protection District crews helped battle a semi-truck fire Wednesday on I-70 near the 32-mile marker in Madison County, where a trailer full of candles and perfume burned. Nine tankers from multiple departments shuttled water as the interstate stayed closed for over two hours, but no injuries were reported and Greenville’s tanker was released around 5 p.m.

4. Cougars' season ends in sectional semifinal (morningsentinel.com) — Baseball fans following the Greenville Class 2A Regional saw Central Community’s season end in Wednesday’s semifinal, played in Greenville, with a 6–3 loss to Effingham St. Anthony. The Cougars stranded nine runners despite strong hitting from Alex Athmer, while St. Anthony steadily added runs to advance to Saturday’s championship against Freeburg.

5. Wallene Rene Frazier (ozarkradionews.com) — Greenville readers may recognize the local connection in remembering Wallene Renee Frazier, whose daughter Darla Zbinden lives here in town. Wallene, originally from East St. Louis and later of Glencoe, Arkansas, was a devoted wife, mother, and banking professional who cherished time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. No services are scheduled, and memorials are suggested to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance.
