• Maria Perez dies in DUI accident on Interstate 94 (newsline.com) — A recent suspected DUI crash on westbound I-94 in Gurnee left 35-year-old passenger Maria Conchita Perez of Waukegan dead after a Mazda SUV hit a tractor-trailer near milepost 11.75. Illinois State Police say the driver showed a high blood alcohol level and signs of distraction, and the investigation and potential charges are still pending.
