• 8-Foot-Tall Waves And Deadly Currents Threaten Highland Park Beaches (patch.com) — Highland Park beachgoers are being warned to stay out of Lake Michigan as waves up to 8 feet and dangerous rip currents create life‑threatening swimming conditions through Wednesday evening. The National Weather Service urges extra caution after a year with dozens of Lake Michigan drownings and notes that cooler, rainy weather will continue into Tuesday.
   

• Lake County plastic bag recycling program ending next year: 'It just didn't take off' (chicagotribune.com) — Highland Park residents who've been using the orange Hefty ReNew bags for hard‑to‑recycle plastics should prepare for the program to end on June 30, 2027, after organizers struggled to find reliable end users.
