Now-Find a Chief of Detectives for Jax (wlds.com) ā Jacksonville Police Chief Doug Thompson is searching for a new chief of detectives after promoting former detective chief Kyle Chumley to deputy chief. With two deputy chiefs now in place, Thompson is carefully evaluating candidates for what he calls the departmentās hardest, most critical investigative role.

Program seeking to survey Jacksonville's homeless population (myjournalcourier.com) ā Jacksonvilleās Salvation Army is recruiting 16 volunteers for a new yearlong Street Outreach survey to better understand the cityās homeless population and service gaps. Working with the Unhoused Steering Committee, teams will gather basic, non-intrusive information starting in July to track seasonal trends and help existing local agencies strengthen their support for unhoused neighbors.

Jacksonville Police announce results of Memorial Day enforcement campaign (wcia.com) ā Jacksonville Police reported issuing 19 tickets for improper seat belt use during their Memorial Day āClick It or Ticketā campaign, part of a statewide IDOT safety push. Chief Doug Thompson said the effort was meant to remind local drivers and passengers to buckle up and reduce injuries during one of the yearās busiest travel weekends.

Ill. grants fund equipment purchases for fire, EMS agencies (firerescue1.com) ā Fire and EMS agencies across west-central Illinois are getting a share of $6 million in state small equipment grants, including Waverly Fire Protection District in Morgan County. While no Jacksonville departments are listed, the funding strengthens nearby responders that often coordinate regionally on major fires, crashes, and medical calls affecting local residents.
