Woman Who Tried To Snatch Child, 1, Out Of Man's Hands Back In Jail: Joliet Police

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department announced that its day shift officers arrested a 34-year-old woman this week in connection with charges of child endangerment and domestic battery. It's her second time in the Will County Jail within the past three years.

According to police spokesman Dwayne English, at 4:16 p.m. on Monday, officers responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Krings Lane for a domestic disturbance.

He said that a man was standing outside the residence holding his 1-year-old child when the child’s mother, Jacqueline Guzman, 34, of Joliet, came outside and attempted to take the child from him.

Guzman allegedly pulled the man to the ground while he was holding the child, English said.

According to police, a witness took hold of the child during the encounter. Officers learned that Guzman is also the ex-girlfriend of the man, Joliet police said.

"Officers reviewed video of the incident and took Guzman into custody without incident. No injuries were reported, and the child remained in the father’s care," English said.

Guzman was charged with domestic battery and endangering the life or health of a child and transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.

After three days in the jail, Guzman was set free around dinner time on Wednesday. She also spent a few days in the Will County Jail back in October 2023 following a separate domestic battery arrest, also by Joliet police.
