Drunk Driver Smacked Jefferson Street Bridge, Then Harrah's Casino Parking Garage: Joliet Police Reveal

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department has moved forward with drunken driving charges for a 46-year-old Wilmington motorist who struck the Jefferson Street Bridge last month.
According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, back on March 16, at 3:08 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of West Jefferson Street for a report of a single-vehicle crash with injuries.
English said that a Jeep Compass was traveling eastbound over the Jefferson Street Bridge at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control. The vehicle left the roadway and struck the southwest corner of the Harrah’s Casino parking deck.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, identified as Adam Jaakkola of Wilmington was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Saint Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire
Department.
The Joliet Police Department Traffic Unit’s investigation found that Jaakkola was allegedly impaired by alcohol at the time of the crash, English revealed.

Investigators obtained an arrest warrant on March 19, charging him with two counts of DUI, two counts of reckless driving, and one count of aggravated speeding.
