Fatal Crash On I-55 Causes Hourslong Closures In Joliet: Police

JOLIET, IL — A fatal crash closed southbound Interstate 55 on Sunday morning in Joliet, according to state police.

The collision, which involved multiple vehicles, occurred around 5:15 a.m. at Black Road, police said. Traffic was diverted off the interstate at U.S. Route 30, but all lanes had reopened as of 11:30 a.m.

The investigation was ongoing Sunday, according to state police, who said in an email around 11:30 a.m. that “there is no further information available at this time.”
