He Wanted Joliet Police Officers To Stand Up And Fight Against Him: Cops

JOLIET, IL — Ricardo Juan Gomez, a 26-year-old Joliet man who used to live in Chicago, has been freed from the Will County Jail following his arrest by the Joliet police force on charges of aggravated assault, obstructing a peace officer and obstructing justice.

According to police spokesman Tizoc Landeros, at approximately 11:30 p.m. on May 21, officers were dispatched to the area of the 300 block of North Broadway Street regarding complaints of subjects loitering in the area.

Upon arrival, officers encountered Gomez and was belligerent toward officers and making hand signs, Landeros noted.

"He also approached officers in an aggressive manner and verbally stated that he wanted to fight them. Gomez refused to keep his distance from officers and was subsequently taken into custody," Landeros announced.

Gomez was transported to the Joliet Police booking area, where he refused to cooperate with the booking
process. Gomez also continued making threats toward officers. Due to his combative and aggressive behavior, officers were unable to fingerprint him. Gomez was subsequently transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility without incident, Landeros explained.
