Jefferson Street Water Main Work to Begin October 12: City Of Joliet Reveals What's Expected

JOLIET, Ill. — The City of Joliet Public Utilities Department will begin construction of a water main on Jefferson Street as part of the Oneida Street Water Main Replacement Program beginning on Monday, October 12, 2026.

This includes work to replace the water main on Jefferson Street at Nicholson Street. During this time, traffic on Jefferson Street will be reduced to one lane between Clement Street and Center Street, and Nicholson Street will be closed to
thru traffic between Jefferson Street and Oneida Street.

The water main replacement work for this section of Jefferson Street is anticipated to be completed by Friday, October 16, 2026. Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes for the
duration of the work.
