Joliet Driver With No Valid License Flees Joliet Police, But He Gets Caught Eventually: Cops

JOLIET, IL — A 26-year-old Joliet man who is accused of ignoring Joliet police commands to pull over and stop his vehicle was back in the Will County jail facing charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding a police officer as well as obstructing a police officer.

The arrest of Justin Adams happened Wednesday, but his brush with the law goes back to 3 p.m. Aug. 8.

According to police spokesman Tizoc Landeros, officers saw Adams driving a silver Infiniti near Jefferson Street and Springfield Avenue and realized that Adams had a suspended driver's license, the vehicle's registration was suspended, and Adams had an active Will County arrest warrant.

Landeros said that when the officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, Adams fled from officers at a high rate of speed, disregarding multiple stop signs and traffic control devices while traveling through Jefferson Street and Springfield Avenue.

At that point, the officers discontinued their attempt to stop Adams as he continued to flee at a high rate of speed, police said.

This week, Joliet police finally captured Adams.

At approximately 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Joliet officers were conducting surveillance in the 2400 block of Douglas Street trying to locate Adams. Sure enough, the officers saw Adams approaching his silver Infiniti, but when the officers exited their vehicle and identified themselves, Adams fled on foot, the agency said.

Officers pursued Adams and, after a brief foot pursuit, took him into custody without further incident. Adams was subsequently transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility on the arrest warrant for obstructing a police officer.

On Thursday afternoon, Adams was freed from the Will County jail, the jail logs show. He comes from the 500 block of Joliet's Kungs Way, over near Black Road.
