Joliet Teen Suffers Stab Wounds Leaving Him Seriously Injured On Near West Side: Police

Less than 12 hours after a homicide victim patronizing Anthony's Pub lost his life, a Joliet teenager suffered a stab wound on Broadway.

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department revealed that a 17-year-old teenager suffered life-threatening knife wounds over the lunch hour on Sunday.

The crime happened at the old Evergreen Terrace property.

According to police spokesman Dwayne English, at 12:55 p.m., officers responded to the Riverwalk Homes Apartments for a reported stabbing. The officers located a 17-year-
old boy on the fifth floor of 366 N. Broadway who had sustained a serious stab wound. The victim was transported by the Joliet Fire Department to St. Joseph Medical Center.

English said the officers secured the scene and conducted a canvass of the area. An underage boy has been detained as a person of interest and transported to the Joliet Police Department for questioning.

A knife has been recovered at the scene, English revealed.

"At the time of this release, the victim remains in critical condition at St. Joseph Medical Center. This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Information is preliminary and may change as the investigation continues. Officers and detectives remain on scene, and additional details will
be released as they become available," English added.
