Joliet Teen Dies Of His Gunshot Wounds From Attack At Secluded Crest Hill Park Where 4 Teens Were Shot

JOLIET, IL — The Crest Hill P0lice Department's open investigation into last weekend's shooting at a secluded neighborhood park in the 1900 block of Willow Court has now turned into a double homicide.

On Tuesday, Joliet shooting victim Jamari Finch, age 18, died of his injuries at a Chicago hospital. His death happened at 11:48 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Over the weekend, the Crest Hill Police Department revealed that a total of four people suffered gunshot wounds late Saturday night. Will County Coroner Laurie Summers revealed the identity of the initial homicide victim, 18-year-old Kamarion Coleman of suburban Woodridge.

According to police chief Ed Clark, the Crest Hill Police Department was called to the 1900 block of Willow Court around 11 p.m. Saturday for a report of shots fired.

Officers arrived and discovered that four teenagers had been shot. One 18-year-old victim from Woodridge was pronounced dead, the chief said. Finch, the 18-year-old victim from Joliet, was initially listed in critical condition after being airlifted to a hospital in Chicago.

A 15-year-old and 16-year-old victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

The shooter managed to escape the area and avoid capture. No arrests have been made in connection with Crest Hill's first double murder of 2026.
