Catherine “Kathy” G. Coons, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Bolingbrook Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on November 21, 1943, to the late Harold and Viola Jenkins. Kathy grew up in Joliet, IL.

Kathy spent more than 50 years working as a waitress at the Morris Country Club in Morris, IL—a place she truly loved and where she greeted so many with her warm spirit. She was a big sports fan and loved cheering on her favorite teams. As the years went on, nothing brought her more joy than watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play. She showed up for their games whenever she could, always cheering them on with so much pride and love from the sidelines.

Kathy is survived by her grandchildren, Jason (Jeannie), Desiree, Kristah (Tony), and Francis (Brian); great-grandchildren, Rozanna (Lawrence), Arianna, Jayden, Grayson, Vivian, Riley, and Summer Rae; one great-great-grandson, Lawrence Jr; her siblings, Marge and Roxanne; and her nieces, Debbie and Mickie (Jerry). She also leaves behind numerous friends and neighbors who will remember her warmth and unwavering kindness.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Kristine Sue Steffen; and her parents.

Funeral Services for Catherine G. Coons will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL. Inurnment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet, Illinois. Visitation will be held at the funeral home chapel on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. As it was her request, cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation.
