Despite Pleas From 'Joliet's Hometown Bank For Over 50 Years,' City Council Changes Banking Institution (patch.com) — Joliet officials have voted unanimously to move the city's primary banking services from Old National Bank to JP Morgan Chase, despite emotional pleas from Old National's local leadership. Finance director Kevin Sing says the five-year agreement will save Joliet at least $50,000 a year in fees and generate about $227,000 more in annual interest, boosting returns for local taxpayers.

Joliet Drunk Pees His Pants After 7th DUI, 2 Open Brandy Bottles Inside Truck: Illinois State Police (patch.com) — A 63-year-old Joliet man with a long history of DUI convictions is being held without pretrial release after Illinois State Police stopped him on I-80 and reported clear signs of intoxication. Will County Judge Donald DeWilkins ordered continued detention under the SAFE-T Act, citing repeated violations and ongoing risk to the Joliet-area community.

'Our Hard Work And Planning Over The Years Have Made A Difference:' Bertino-Tarrant Declares (patch.com) — Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant outlined a proposed 2027 budget that keeps property taxes flat while prioritizing public safety and infrastructure improvements that affect Joliet residents. She highlighted a major county roadway plan and the expansion of services such as Access Will County Dial-A-Ride and the new Veterans Assistance Commission office on Copperfield Avenue in Joliet, emphasizing efforts to improve quality of life and reduce crime and opioid deaths.
   

4. Family Feud With Hair Pulling As Woman, 77, Smacks Joliet Cop In the Back With Her Patio Chair: Cops (patch.com) — Joliet police report that a family dispute on Kenmore Avenue led to the arrests of Ernest and Concepcion Lopez after a confrontation that allegedly involved hair pulling and a struggle with officers. Investigators say the 77-year-old woman is accused of hitting a Joliet officer with a patio chair, and both relatives now face multiple domestic battery and obstruction-related charges before being released from the Will County jail.
   

5. Combative Joliet Trespasser, 26, Taken To Ground During Her Arrest At Super 8 Motel: Police (patch.com) — Joliet readers may notice increased police activity near the Super 8 Motel on McDonough Street, where officers arrested a 26-year-old woman after she allegedly returned to the property and resisted being taken into custody. Police say she was taken to the ground after raising a clenched hand toward an officer and then allegedly kicked him in the face multiple times, leading to several felony and misdemeanor charges and a court appearance in Will County.
