JOLIET, IL — A 26-year-old Joliet woman facing misdemeanor charges of violating an order of protection and criminal property damage must remain in the Will County Jail indefinitely, according to the Will County State's Attorney's Office petition to deny pretrial release for Yuliana Zavala, who comes from the 800 block of Gage Street.

Zavala has remained in the jail since her Joliet police arrest last weekend. According to the filing, around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Joliet police responded to the 600 block of Summit Street for an ongoing disturbance. The officers spoke with Zavala and a man in front of the house.

"Oscar stated Yuliana took a brick and threw it at a black 2015 GMC Sierra belonging to his wife ... Officers observed the driver's side window to be broken and a brick laying on the ground in front of the driver's side door," court documents show.

According to prosecutors, "Yuliana stated she was driving in the area and chose to stop at the residence to make contact with her sister because she was 'talking shit.' Yuliana was standing next to her car and officers observed an open can of Modelo beer in the cup holder."

The victim notified Joliet police she wanted to pursue complaints against Zavala for violating an order of protection and for the damage to her vehicle. The victim obtained an order of protection at Will County's Courthouse that was issued on April 15. The document indicates that the woman and her residence in the 600 block of Summit are protected, prosecutors outlined.

Zavala already faces two separate domestic battery cases involving a male victim from March 24 and Feb. 28, prosecutors noted.

As for the order of protection obtained by the 21-year-old woman, the document informed Will County's judges that back on March 23, "Yuliana and her nephew were outside looking for me in the morning. She has been contacting people to try to locate me. She is trying to hire people to kill me. The next day, March 24, my mom informed me that Yuliana was outside my mother's house breaking her windows and telling her, 'She's the next one.' Yuliana also went to my friend's house looking for me ... I did at some point hear chaos. I went down and saw her fighting with my grandpa. I called police and she was arrested."
