Progressives, Socialists and the Future of the United States

I've been reading that the "success" of progressives/socialists' victories in recent primary elections are because voters want "real" solutions and reject those of temper tantrum throwing "centrist" Democrats and, of course, Republicans

What those progressives really want is to completely teardown the country and rebuild it in their vision with no checks and balances on their control. The DSA states that "complete victory will require building a new society from the ground up". Some of their "real" solutions call for abolishing the senate and the presidency, limiting or abolishing the Supreme Court (depending on who you talk to), closing all prisons, eliminating police over time, abolishing borders and eliminating the Electoral College (which provides a check on their power grab.)

They also want "free" healthcare, "free" college education and a host of other "free" entitlements. And, of course, this will all be accomplished by "taxing the rich" and eliminating public corporations and private property. DSA leader David Jenkins said "Our goal is liberation. Our goal is communism".

Another favorite argument is keeping money out of politics. DSA Wisconsin governor candidate Francesca Hong raises money using "influencer" (and antisemite, anti American) Hasan Piker.

Their whole appeal is emotional - not rational or intellectual or practical. This movement is targeting those who are naive and are economic, political and historical illiterates.
