• Lake Bluff trustee appointed judge in 19th Judicial Circuit (shawlocal.com) — Lake Bluff residents have one of their own heading to the bench, as village trustee and longtime attorney Katharine Hatch has been appointed a judge in Lake County’s 19th Judicial Circuit through 2028. With deep experience in family and criminal law plus local bar leadership, she’ll now help shape justice for cases originating across Lake County, including from Lake Bluff.
   

• Fire tears through house, leaving it heavily damaged and residents homeless in Vernon Hills (lakemchenryscanner.com) — Lake Bluff firefighters were among several departments called to a major house fire in Vernon Hills Friday night, with a Lake Bluff engine repositioned to help cover Countryside’s stations. The blaze left the home uninhabitable but caused no injuries, and investigators are examining a possible garage-related origin while officials remind residents to unplug unnecessary battery chargers before leaving home.
