37-Year-Old Firefighter From Libertyville Dies After Medical Emergency
Visitation and funeral services for the Schaumburg firefighter will be held this week in Grayslake, with burial to follow in Libertyville.
LIBERTYVILLE, IL â Funeral services have been announced for Schaumburg firefighter Evan Zibell, whose sudden death earlier this month has prompted an outpouring of support from fellow firefighters and the broader community.
The Schaumburg Professional Firefighters Association, IAFF Local 4092, said members are deeply grateful for the many prayers, messages, and expressions of support received since Zibellâs passing.
âWe want to extend our sincere thanks to everyone for the overwhelming prayers, support, and kind messages as we grieve the loss of our brother, Evan Zibell,â the union said in a statement. âThe outpouring of compassion from our community and the fire service has meant more than words can express during this incredibly difficult time.â

Zibell, 37, of Libertyville, died on April 11 after suffering a heart attack, according to the Lake & McHenry County Scanner. He was initially resuscitated by his wife, Elizabeth, and the Libertyville Fire Department.
He died days later after undergoing treatment in a hospital intensive care unit, according to the media report.

Zibell had worked as a paramedic/firefighter for the Schaumburg Fire Department for the past nine years, according to his obituary.
Visitation for Zibell was Monday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at The Chapel, 25270 W. Route 60 in Grayslake. A fire department walkthrough was scheduled for 7 p.m.
Funeral services will take place Tuesday beginning at 11 a.m., also at The Chapel in Grayslake. Following the service, a procession will travel to Lakeside Cemetery, 600 Lake St. in Libertyville for a burial ceremony.
The firefighters association said those looking to help the family can do so through a support page established by The Yard Foundation, which will direct donations to assist Zibellâs loved ones in the days ahead.
âPlease continue to keep Evanâs family, friends, and our members in your thoughts and prayers,â the association said.
