Man, 31, Dies After Crash Into Brick Structure: Coroner
The collision happened over the weekend in Mundelein.
MUNDELEIN, IL — A 31-year-old Mundelein man was killed after his SUV crashed into a brick structure Sunday, according to police.
Mundelein police, firefighters and the Countryside Fire Protection District responded to the intersection of Chevy Chase Road and West Hawley Street after receiving a 911 call reporting a loud noise in the area.
Officers arriving at the scene found a Chevrolet SUV that had struck a brick structure, causing extensive damage, according to the news release. The driver, identified as Lukas Beelow, suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Due to the severity of the crash, the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team was called in to assist with the investigation. The Lake County Coroner's Office also responded, according to the news release.
An autopsy conducted Monday determined that Beelow died from blunt-force injuries sustained in the crash, according to preliminary findings from the coroner's office.
