With 3,154 students and a 72-to-1 student-to-administrator ratio, the district remains comparatively well-staffed as statewide educator shortages continue. 
2. Round Lake Beach teen accused of possessing untraceable short-barrel rifle in Libertyville while on way to movie theater (lakemchenryscanner.com) — Libertyville police say a traffic stop at Route 21 and Rockland led to the arrest of a 19-year-old Round Lake Beach man after a modified, untraceable short-barrel rifle was found in his backpack. Prosecutors sought to detain him, but a judge released him under monitoring and strict conditions while the case proceeds.
3. Volleyball Recap: Lakes Takes Care of Marian Central Catholic (maxpreps.com) — Lakes' volleyball team opened its season with a straight-sets win over Marian Central Catholic and now heads to Libertyville for a 6 p.m. road match on Wednesday. Libertyville fans can expect a confident Lakes squad after a dominant first outing.
4. Man flown to trauma center after ATV crash in Huntley (shawlocal.com) — A man seriously injured in an ATV crash in Huntley was first taken to Northwestern Huntley Hospital, then airlifted to the Level 1 trauma center at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Huntley police continue to investigate the Sunday incident as the victim receives advanced care locally.
