• Joint Statement on Relocation of Logan Correctional Center (decaturradio.com) — Local leaders, including Lincoln Mayor Tracy Welch, are condemning the state’s decision to move Logan Correctional Center operations to Stateville, warning it will hurt employees, families, and the Logan County economy. They argue the state should instead invest in repairs and upgrades at Logan and pledge to keep fighting the relocation plan.
   

• Lincoln Council reviews recreation plans, property acquisition efforts (lincolndailynews.com) — Lincoln residents could see major upgrades to the Eighth Street recreation area, as the City Council backed a hospital-funded master plan and new artwork for the fitness court. Aldermen also discussed acquiring two nuisance properties, replacing key wastewater plant equipment, and upcoming traffic changes on North Elm Street, while noting the success of the downtown Logan County Pride Festival.
   

• Robert Hoffman (riverbender.com) — Lincoln readers may feel a special connection to Robert “Bob” Hoffman, who spent part of his childhood at the Oddfellows Children’s Home in Lincoln where he formed many cherished memories. Bob later built a devoted family life in Granite City and Collinsville, worked for Olin Corporation, and was known for his faith, kindness, and love of the St. Louis Cardinals; visitation and services are set for June 19 in Granite City.
