• Joan Fisher 1930-2026 (threeriverspublishing.com) — Murphysboro residents are mourning the passing of 96-year-old Joan Mary (Schaefer) Fisher, who died March 29 in St. Louis and called Murphysboro home. Her long life took her from Missouri farm country to Texas and back to southern Illinois, where she and her late husband Leo retired in Thebes. A memorial service will be announced later online, and memorial gifts may go to the Arbor Day Foundation.
