Heinen’s Brings Hatch Chile Roasting Event to Naperville on Aug. 22

Hatch chile season is arriving in Naperville, and Heinen’s Grocery Store is celebrating with a live roasting event on Saturday, August 22 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at its location on East Chicago Avenue.

Shoppers can watch Heinen’s team roast Hatch chiles over an open flame, sample freshly roasted peppers, and pick up recipe ideas for everything from green chile sauces to grilled entrées. Both fresh and roasted Hatch chiles will be available for purchase during the event.

“Hatch chiles have a unique loyal following because their flavor is so distinctive - smoky, sweet, and just the right amount of heat,” said Dan Haverlock, Director of Produce for Heinen's. “For 14 years, Heinen’s has celebrated Hatch season with live roasting events, and it’s become something our communities genuinely look forward to. We're excited to bring this experience to our newest store in Naperville this year."

Fresh Hatch chiles are only available for a few weeks each year, but roasted chiles can be frozen and enjoyed for months — a tradition many Heinen’s shoppers swear by. All Hatch offerings wrap up by mid‑September.
