Parents should keep the following tips in mind to ensure everyone stays safe and has a spooky good time:
- Stay in groups.
- Always stay on sidewalks when possible.
- Flashlights or glowsticks can help with visibility.
- A responsible adult should accompany young children.
- If your older children are going alone, plan and review a route acceptable to you. Agree on a specific time children should return home. Remind children to travel only in familiar, well-lit areas and stick with their friends.
- Examine all treats before eating them.
- Put electronic devices down, keep heads up and walk, don't run, across the street.
