Village leaders discussed ending a moratorium on security grates, offering no‑interest loans, and expanding Flock license plate readers, with final votes on three security ordinances expected at the Sept. 28 board meeting.

• Kee forfeiture damages moved to federal court as Secret Service seeks dismissal (chicagotribune.com) — Two New Lenox business owners, who run Kee Construction and Kee Firearms and Training, are pursuing damages after seized assets were sold following a criminal case in which they were acquitted. Their forfeiture dispute has been shifted into federal court as the U.S. Secret Service seeks dismissal, delaying state proceedings and their push for a special prosecutor in remaining cases.
