In Memoriam: Beloved Dad, Poppa 'Could Brighten Anyone's Day,' Was Proud Top Earner For St. Baldrick's Cause (patch.com) — New Lenox readers are remembering 76-year-old Air Force veteran Daniel Kida, who recently passed away at Silver Cross Hospital after living in both Joliet and New Lenox. Loved as a devoted "Poppa" and top local fundraiser for St. Baldrick's childhood cancer efforts, he is celebrated for his humor, love of music, and dedication to helping fellow veterans. A future Celebration of Life will honor his memory.

Liquor Store Targeted In Smash-And-Grab To Gaming Machines: New Lenox PD (patch.com) — New Lenox residents are being alerted after Route 30 Liquors on Maple Street was hit by a smash-and-grab targeting its gaming machines early last weekend. A witness reported three men fleeing in a vehicle, and officers arrived to find a shattered glass door and damaged machines, adding to a pattern of recent area burglaries.
   

3. South Suburban Meeting Agenda - September 16, 2026 (illinois.gov) — A state Human Rights Authority panel will meet at Trinity Services on Veterans Parkway in New Lenox on Sept. 16 to review new complaints and ongoing cases involving area hospitals and care facilities. Residents can attend the public portions, hear progress reports, and offer comments before the group sets its next New Lenox meeting in October.

Birthday surprise: Braidwood man wins $1Million Lotto Jackpot with gifted Lottery Ticket (thetimesweekly.com) — A birthday gift ticket bought at the Gas N Wash on Laraway Road in New Lenox turned a Braidwood man into a $1 million Lotto winner. While he and his family plan trips and big celebrations, the New Lenox retailer also earns a $10,000 bonus for selling the lucky ticket, highlighting how local businesses benefit from big wins too.
