Northbrook Park District hosts free event for seniors on National Senior Health and Fitness Day
Register now for free access and classes at Techny Prairie Activity Center along with free InBody scans, games and giveaways
Senior Health and Fitness Day will be back this month at Techny Prairie Activity Center in Northbrook with free offerings and programming tailored for individuals ages 55 and up.
Held by the Northbrook Park District, the event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, which is National Senior Health and Fitness Day.
The event will feature a variety of free offerings, including body composition analysis with InBody scans, open gym pickleball, access to the walking track and the fitness floor, and special low-impact group fitness classes. There will be healthy snacks, fun games and a variety of giveaways.

Fitness Supervisor Julie Lappas said staff especially enjoy hosting Senior Health and Fitness Day as an opportunity to welcome participants from Northbrook and the surrounding communities to connect, move and experience all the Techny Prairie Activity Center has to offer.
“Each year, growing research continues to highlight the essential role exercise plays in preventive health,” Lappas said. “At Techny Prairie Activity Center, we are dedicated to creating an inclusive community for individuals of all ages and abilities, and we take pride in showcasing the wide range of programs that support and inspire healthy living.”

Participants will have a chance to meet event sponsors, including presenting sponsors CJE SeniorLife, Rosewater Memory Care and Senior Helpers.

Other event supporters include Northbrook Police Department, Northbrook Fire Department, Senator Julie Morrison and Regional Transportation Authority, as well as gold sponsors Inspirations of Northbrook and Align Wellness Center.
